We're a small, family-run business nestled in the beautiful state of Maine. What started as a desire for natural insect repellent has blossomed into a passion for creating handcrafted, plant-based skincare and household products that are good for you and the environment.

How We Ended Up in Maine

Maine wasn't always home. Sébastien is originally from Geneva, Switzerland, while Jim comes from Boston. During a visit to Jim's family, we fell head over heels for Maine's natural beauty. The forests, mountains, and coastline all within reach stole our hearts. A year later, we traded the hustle and bustle of Geneva for a peaceful life in Berwick, Maine.

Plant-Powered Goodness

Frustrated with the harsh chemicals found in many commercially available products, we knew there had to be a better way. That's why we use only plant-based ingredients in our products. They're gentle on your skin and effective at keeping you clean and refreshed.

Encouraged by Friends & Family

What started as a personal solution quickly gained a loyal following. Friends and family were impressed with our creations and urged us to share them with the world.  Their encouragement, along with the desire for more flexibility to raise our family, led to the birth of Wayward Chickadee in 2018.

We take our commitment to the environment seriously. That's why we use plastic-free packaging whenever possible. It's our way of ensuring that our products are as good for the planet as they are for your skin.

We're constantly looking for new ways to innovate using natural ingredients.  Before creating a new product, we ask ourselves two key questions: can it be made with plant-based ingredients, and can it be packaged without plastic? If the answer is yes to both, then the fun part begins – formulating and creating new products that are good for you and kind to the Earth.
