Delicate or sensitive skin: what ingredients should be avoided?

People with sensitive skin can experience unpleasant symptoms, sometimes accompanied by redness. These symptoms can be tingling, feelings of tightness, heat or even burning and more rarely itching. Often there are very few skincare product options, especially for the face.

The skin of young children, much thinner than that of an adult, is very delicate too. Their skin absorbs products applied to the skin much more easily and is more sensitive to the chemicals they contain.

Despite the designation “for sensitive skin” on certain products of major brands or a range of skincare products specialized for young skin, many tests have shown that many would be outlawed due to the presence of irritating components, especially because of the preservatives, perfumes and other antioxidants.

It is therefore important, for young skin, sensitive skin, and also for each person who wishes to use the least chemical products possible to be aware of the ingredients to avoid and understand this famous “INCI” list (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredient) present on each package. The list indicates the ingredients that make up the product and that is listed in descending order by quantity, so, the higher the ingredient, the higher the dosage. And now, compare the INCI list of your products with the ingredients mentioned below. If you the product contains one of these ingredients and you have young and / or sensitive skin, this product should be avoided!

Alternatives to synthetic industrial products:

The soap with cold sugras, based on vegetable oils, (without essential oils for young or sensitive skin), is an alternative to synthetic industrial products. You are certain that it will not include any of the elements listed above. The cold saponification will keep all the virtues of vegetable oils and its naturally occurring glycerin will bring the necessary benefits for the skin. Be careful, however, to check that it is a handmade soap made “cold”, that it uses only vegetable oils and that there is no addition of artificial coloring or fragrance.

The properties of our surgras soap “Plain & Simple”

Our very mild surgras soap is ideal for the daily hygiene of fragile and delicate skin thanks to its high percentage of surgras: 6% and its naturally occurring glycerin content.

  • The body and face are cleansed gently.
  • The skin is moisturized and softened thanks to natural glycerin (emollient effect).
  • No drying effects or feeling of tightness.

Thanks to our formula, it helps to reinforce the cutaneous barrier and to preserve skin while nourishing it thanks to vegetable oils. The INCI list for our Plain & Simple soap is: Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Water (Aqua), Theobroma cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Sodium Hydroxide Lye, Orbignya Oleifera (Babassu) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Ricinus communis (Castor) oil

How to Use our soap:

After wetting the body and face with warm water:

  • Lather the soap either in your hands or with a natural sponge
  • Apply the foam on the skin and gently rub it and rinse. You will see how it rinses very easily and leaves the skin soft and supple.
